Who we are
Bob and Tammy Fowler are the owners of Fowler Farms and Sugar Pappy Shine, locally owned businesses built on small-town values, hard work, and traditional craftsmanship.
At Fowler Farms, they offer fresh produce, plants, and homemade canned goods, continuing a long-standing commitment to quality and self-sufficiency. In 2024, they expanded that same hands-on approach into distilling with the launch of Sugar Pappy Shine, producing small-batch moonshine made with honest ingredients and time-honored methods.
Deeply rooted in the local community, Bob and Tammy are involved in every step of what they do, taking pride in building businesses that are personal, practical, and authentic. With a pizza shop coming soon, the Fowlers continue to grow while staying true to the values that started it all—doing things the right way and taking care of their community
The Main Men
Bob
Born and raised in West Liberty, West Virginia, Bob is the kind of person a community is built around. His story started early—at just 16, he joined the West Liberty Volunteer Fire Department alongside his father, Kenny—and it’s been full speed ever since. Today, he serves as Fire Chief and sits on the town council, continuing a lifetime of service to the place he’s always called home.
After many years in public safety, including his time as Brooke County’s EMS & EMA Director, Bob became known as the guy who could handle anything thrown his way. Long days, tough calls, and constant responsibility never slowed him down—they shaped the steady, dependable leader everyone counts on.
These days, even in “retirement,” Bob hasn’t exactly taken it easy. He runs the farm, produces moonshine, and is working toward opening a local pizza shop—still finding ways to bring people together, just in a different setting. And while he may say he’s stepped back, most would tell you he’s simply taken on a new role: keeping an eye on everything and making sure it all gets done right (with a little expert-level bossing along the way).
Bob shines with his family and his community. To him, the two go hand in hand. He believes no one stays a stranger for long—just give it a little time, and you’re family. That mindset carries through everything he does, from the firehouse to the farm.
Bob married Tammy in 2001, blending their families into one and building a home centered on love, laughter, and togetherness. Family has always been at the heart of who he is, and he’s the kind of man who shows up—whether it’s for the big milestones or the small, everyday moments that matter just as much. His grandchildren know him best as “Pappy,” a title he wears with pride. From sneaking them extra treats to making sure they always leave with a smile, Bob has a special way of making each one feel like the favorite. For him, time spent with family isn’t just important—it’s everything, and it’s where he finds his greatest joy.
The Professional Supervisor
The Jack of all Trades, Master of None
Rocky
Rocky is the kind of guy every team secretly relies on—even if his job title doesn’t fully capture what he actually does. After many years working alongside Bob, he’s become the “figure-it-out” expert. Whether it’s something he’s done a hundred times or something completely new, Rocky approaches every challenge with the same confidence: give him a little time, a couple of YouTube videos, and he’ll come back a semi-pro.
But where Rocky truly shines is at the moonshine stills. He spends countless hours perfecting every batch, carefully crafting the flavor you taste in every single sip. It’s not just a process to him—it’s a craft. From fine-tuning the smallest details to making sure each run comes out just right, Rocky puts his signature touch on every drop.
Rocky is the reason the quality never slips—and why every sip tastes just the way you love it.
The Greenhouse Guru
Shane
Shane is the kind of guy every team is lucky to have—someone who steps in and just gets it done, no matter what needs handled. Even though he hasn’t been with the crew as long as some, it feels like he’s been here all along. After retiring from the coal mines, he brought with him a strong work ethic and a steady, hands-on approach that fits right in with everything we do.
But where Shane truly shines is in the greenhouse. During the growing season, that’s where you’ll find him—putting in the time and care it takes to grow the fresh vegetables that make their way onto your plate. From planting to harvest, he makes sure everything is done right, paying attention to the details that make all the difference.
Shane is a big part of why things keep running smoothly—and why those fresh toppings taste just the way you expect them to.
